    Future Fleet Planning

    In planning for the transition to electric vehicles, a study was conducted utilizing sensors on the current vehicles. Data collected enabled intelligent decisions around fleet sizing and proper placement of charging stations.

    Sharing the road with autonomous vehicles is coming and this project is determining the strongest detection technology and automated traffic signal management that will make local roads as safe as possible.

    Determining the right combination of technologies best suited for a specific environment is the focus of this initiative. The Cox State-of-the-Art Network Testing Laboratory provides the tools needed to rapidly test new network concepts and prove them in an environment that is safe and non-disruptive.

    Providing disabled employees access to transportation requires intelligent technology to match requests with the right rides. This project involves testing and choosing technologies to get the right equipment to the right place at the right time.

    Encouraging Sustainable Transportation Modes

    Using video analytics and machine learning, this project identified optimum bike parking and rack placement by gauging utilization data over time. Data provided insights into more efficient bike parking and where spots are available.

    Maximizing Congested Spaces

    Moving drivers along the curb safely and efficiently while providing information to any pedestrians was the goal of this project. A solution was developed to increase traffic safety by creating dynamic curbside usage and was physically tested in a simulated environment prior to execution.
